Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this therapy? Or is it spiritual work?

This work is grounded in an understanding of the nervous system, human development, and how we adapt to our environments. At the same time, it recognizes that we are more than thoughts and behaviors. We are conscious, sensing beings with access to intuition, presence, and deeper meaning.

Do I need to have trauma to benefit from this work?

No. Everyone develops adaptations. You don't need a dramatic or identifiable trauma for your system to have learned self-protection. Everyday experiences—pressure, emotional disconnection, chronic stress, or simply growing up in a fast-paced world—are enough to shape how we relate to ourselves and life. This work isn’t about what happened to you. It’s about how your system learned to function—and how it can soften now.

Will I have to talk about my past?

Only if you want to—and even then, it’s not required for change. This work does not rely on revisiting or retelling your history. Many people experience meaningful shifts without ever naming specific events. The focus is on what’s happening in your system now, not on reprocessing what happened then. Your past is respected, but it doesn’t need to be relived in order to heal.

What if I don't know how I feel or can't explain what's going on inside me?

That’s completely okay. You don’t need insight, emotional language, or self-awareness to begin. This work does not depend on figuring yourself out. It works with the body’s intelligence, which operates below words and stories. Many people who struggle to name emotions or who feel “numb” find this approach especially relieving.

Will this make emotions stronger or more intense?

Not usually—and certainly not by force. Unlike approaches that aim for emotional release or catharsis, this work allows emotions to settle organically as the system shifts into safety. For many people, emotions become less overwhelming, not more. If emotions arise, they are met gently and without pressure to process or amplify them.

How long does this take?

There’s no one answer. Some people notice shifts quickly—sometimes in the first session. For others, the change is gradual and cumulative. What matters most is not how fast things change, but how sustainable the change is. This work isn’t about breakthroughs—it’s about restoring a reliable inner baseline.

Is this safe if I’ve had complex or early trauma?

Yes—and it’s often experienced as gentler than many trauma-focused approaches. Because the work does not require reliving or retelling traumatic experiences, it can feel safer for nervous systems that are sensitive to intensity or exposure. The pace follows your system, not a protocol. Nothing is forced. Nothing is rushed.

Do I need to read "The How" before starting sessions?

No, but it will deepen your experience. We reference The How during sessions to help you understand the principles behind what you’re experiencing. You’ll have the option to explore sections of the book alongside your sessions.
